The Hagl rune is one of the fundamental ones; it simultaneously encodes both the seed, as the beginning of the world's creation, and hail, as its destruction. It is karmically linked to the rune ᛆ (Ar), meaning harvest. 

 

t can be used in combat magic, as it is part of the triad of "Wild Runes" (ᚢ Ur - ᛡ Hagl - ᛏ Tyr). In this triad, it acts as a ferocious warrior, raining down hail upon the enemy. 

 

It is also used in protection against fire and fiery entities, as its natural qualities are opposite to theirs. In ancient times, it was a special magical sign that was used in three cases: to send hail to destroy, to use for communication with the world of dreams and elves, and to place it as protection against evil spirits.

 

The Hagl rune is made on Catalpa, which is called the ′happy tree′ because of its heart-shaped leaves. Catalpa promotes prosperity and the manifestation of Love in a person's life, it gives new opportunities and promotes growth.
