Jewelry with a Touch of Glitz ~ Gemstones and Crystals
Welcome to Glitzy.
With God's given ability to create things with my hands, I enjoy making jewelry. It also makes me thrilled to know that one of my pieces made someone happy.
I attended a few classes in jewelry making since the age of 12. I learned to cut, polish and buff precious metal like copper or silver and set raw stones. I have to admit, it was quite messy, a bit tricky and sometimes got a few nics or two. Other techniques I favored are bead stringing, weaving and wire wrapping.
Most of the pieces are made with genuine gemstones or Swarovski crystals that are strung, woven, or on chain links. The metals and components used are either Sterling Silver, stainless Steel (the alternative to sterling and gold now these days), Silver and gold plating, 14kt-18kt gold filled or pewter. I use seven strand jewelry wire that is flexible, rust proof and non-tarnishing.
